The Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA) has praised the achievements of students across Wales as they receive their GCSE and Level 1 and 2 Vocational and Technical qualification results today.
More than 310,000 young people will receive their results this year, marking a significant milestone in their educational journey and recognising the effort and determination they have shown throughout their studies.
Initial data shows that 96.9% of students have secured grades A*-G, with 62.5% achieving grades A*-C. The most popular subject areas this year include Science, English and Mathematics.
Councillor Lis Burnett, WLGA spokesperson for Education, said:
“This is a big day for thousands of young people across Wales, and I want to say a huge well done to everyone picking up their results. Whatever your plans are next, be proud of how far you’ve come – you’ve earned it.
“Behind every result is a huge amount of effort, not just from students but from teachers, support staff and families too. Thank you to everyone who’s helped young people reach this point.
“If you’re unsure what to do next or just need someone to talk things through with, don’t forget that support is out there. Careers Wales, your school or college can help you explore all the options – whether that’s more study, work, or something new entirely.
“We also want to express our sincere thanks to all education and support staff across Wales for their dedication and hard work in fostering the talents, confidence and aspirations of young people, helping them to reach their potential and take their next steps.”
